Food Distribution

We usually see around us and realize that the poor are always an afterthought. It could be seen when a nationwide lockdown for a period of 21-days was announced by the government to curb the spread of coronavirus. While the period was challenging for everyone, the privileged section of the society started panicking and horded the essentials out of fear. They least cared about the food prices which were skyrocketing because of that hoarding.

It further affected the migrant labourers and daily wage earners who were totally without job and stuck in another city away from their homes. These daily wage labourers didn’t even have the savings to feed themselves the bare minimum required to survive.
During these tough times, SSF came forward and tried to relieve the suffering of marginalised individuals during the lockdown. The main challenge for the daily wage labourers, homeless individuals, beggars, slum-dwellers, low-income households, and elder citizens living alone was not fighting with the pandemic, but getting enough food to stay alive.

Though the Delhi government organised food distribution schemes during the lockdown period for migrant workers, many in need kept struggling to get a packet of food for their families. At that time, our NGO emerged as a ray of hope for Delhi’s underprivileged people living on the footpaths, jhuggis and nearby the commercial complexes. We reached out to them with groceries as well as cooked food to survive the lockdown.

Every day from the first day of lockdown to unlock 01 we distributed cooked food twice to the people living with the poor conditions across Delhi NCR. We diligently stepped out to help them when most of the people were scared to come out of their homes.

We followed all the instructions provided by the government at the time of lockdown and took the essential precautions needed. Without the boundation of timings, we worked tirelessly to feed every individual within our NGO’s reach. In future, we endeavour to help every single person who has nothing to survive.

Moreover, we also assisted with food distribution along with some essential items to the riot-affected areas in North-East Delhi this year. Among the people in dire need of food were those whose houses were burnt down or damaged beyond imagination.

At those troubled times, we came forward to help our brothers and sisters irrespective of their religion. Our objective is to help in building one nation with unity between the citizens.
